Then came together unto him [Jesus WU] the Pharisees, and certain of the scribes [experts in the law WU], which came from Jerusalem. MK 7:1 And when they saw some of his disciples eat bread with defiled, that is to say, with unwashen, hands, they found fault. MK 7:2 For the Pharisees, and all the Jews, except they wash their hands oft, eat not, holding the tradition of the elders. MK 7:3 And when they come from the market, except they wash, they eat not. And many other things [traditions WU] there be, which they have received to hold [to], [such WU] as the washing of cups, and pots, brasen vessels [kettles WU], and of tables. MK 7:4 Then the Pharisees and scribes asked him, Why walk not thy disciples according to the tradition of the elders, but eat bread with unwashen hands? MK 7:5 He answered and said unto them, Well hath Esaias [Isaiah] prophesied of you hypocrites, as it is written, This people honoureth me with their lips, but their heart is far from me. MK 7:6 Howbeit [but] in vain do they worship me, teaching for [as] doctrines the commandments of men. MK 7:7 For laying aside the commandment of God, ye hold the tradition of men, [such WU] as the washing of pots and cups: and many other such like things ye do. MK 7:8 And he said unto them, Full well [having no regard for God's command WU] ye reject the commandment of God, that ye may keep your own tradition. MK 7:9 For Moses said, Honour thy father and thy mother; and, Whoso [he who] curseth father or mother, let him die the [be put to] death: MK 7:10 But ye say, If a man shall say to his father or mother, It is Corban, that is to say, a gift [to God], by whatsoever thou mightest be profited by [whatever help you would otherwise have received from] me; he shall be free. MK 7:11 And ye suffer [allow] him no more to do ought [anything] for his father or his mother; MK 7:12 Making the word of God of none effect [void] through your tradition, which ye have delivered [handed down]: and many such like things do ye. MK 7:13

And when he [Jesus WU] had called all the people unto him, he said unto them, Hearken [listen WU] unto me every one of you, and understand: MK 7:14 There is nothing from without [outside] a man, that entering into him can defile him: but the things which come out of him, those are they that defile the man. MK 7:15 If any man have ears to hear, let him hear. MK 7:16

And when he was entered into the house [away] from the people, his disciples asked him concerning the parable. MK 7:17 And he saith unto them, Are ye so without understanding also? Do ye not perceive, that whatsoever thing from without [outside] entereth into the man, it cannot defile him; MK 7:18 Because it entereth not into his heart, but into the belly, and [then] goeth out into the draught [latrine], purging all meats [thus declaring all foods 'clean' WU]? MK 7:19 And he said, That which cometh out of the man, that defileth the man. MK 7:20 For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications [sexual sins], murders, MK 7:21 Thefts, covetousness [greed WU], wickedness, deceit, lasciviousness [lustful desires], an evil eye [envy WU], blasphemy [slander WU], pride [arrogance WU], foolishness: MK 7:22 All these evil things come from within, and defile the man. MK 7:23 OVERCOME YOUR HARMFULNESS Harm From Within
