Jesus answered them, and said, My doctrine [teaching] is not mine [own WU], but his that sent me. If any man will do his [God's WU] will, he shall know of the doctrine [about my teaching], whether it be of [from] God, or whether I speak of myself [on my own WU]. He that is of [belongs to WU] God heareth [listens to WU] God's words: ye therefore hear them not, because ye are not of God. Jh 8:43-47 If you're aligned with God, love him and his principles, you belong to him and he will guide you to repenting and believing in Jesus. And, since what Jesus said is in harmony with God, this makes it easy. To whatever extent you are not aligned, you need to repent and turn to God, showing him you want to belong to him, trying to live according to his principles. God will have mercy on you and free you from the bondage of sin (doing harm), through Jesus.

He that hath my commandments, and keepeth [obeys WU] them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of [by] my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest [reveal] myself to him. Jh 14:21 God initially calls us to repent, and then  reveals Himself to us.

Therefore they sought again to take [seize] him: but he escaped out of their hand, And went away again beyond Jordan into the place where John at first baptized; and there he abode [stayed]. And many resorted [came] unto him, and said, John did no miracle: but all things that John spake of this man were true. And many believed on [in] him there. Jh 10:39-42 People who responded to God's call to repent through John the Baptist and listened to what John (whom God sent) said about Jesus, were able to see that Jesus was from God and believe in Him.
