1Joh4:8God is
love.
Joh3:21“But
whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly
that what he has done has been done through God.” - words of Jesus
Mat5:43“You have heard that it was said, 'Love your neighbor and hate your enemy.' 44But I tell you: Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, 45that you may be sons of your Father in heaven. He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous. 46If you love those who love you, what reward will you get? Are not even the tax collectors doing that? 47And if you greet only your brothers, what are you doing more than others? Do not even pagans do that? 48Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect.” - words of Jesus
Mat22:36“Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?” 37Jesus replied: “ 'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.' (Deu6:5) 38This is the first and greatest commandment. 39And the second is like it: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.' (Lev19:18) 40All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”
Luk7:36Now one of the Pharisees invited Jesus to have dinner with him, so he went to the Pharisee's house and reclined at the table. 37When a woman who had lived a sinful life in that town learned that Jesus was eating at the Pharisee's house, she brought an alabaster jar of perfume, 38and as she stood behind him at his feet weeping, she began to wet his feet with her tears. Then she wiped them with her hair, kissed them and poured perfume on them.
39When
the Pharisee who had invited him saw this, he said to himself, “If this man
were a prophet, he would know who is touching him and what kind of woman she
is—that she is a sinner.”
40Jesus
answered him, “Simon, I have something to tell you.”
“Tell me, teacher,” he said.
41“Two
men owed money to a certain moneylender. One owed him five hundred denarii, and
the other fifty. 42Neither
of them had the money to pay him back, so he canceled the debts of both. Now
which of them will love him more?”
43Simon
replied, “I suppose the one who had the bigger debt canceled.”
“You have judged correctly,” Jesus
said.
44Then
he turned toward the woman and said to Simon, “Do you see this woman? I
came into your house. You did not give me any water for my feet, but she wet my
feet with her tears and wiped them with her hair. 45You
did not give me a kiss, but this woman, from the time I entered, has not stopped
kissing my feet. 46You
did not put oil on my head, but she has poured perfume on my feet. 47Therefore,
I tell you, her many sins have been forgiven—for she loved much. But he who
has been forgiven little loves little.”
48Then
Jesus said to her, “Your sins are forgiven.”
49The
other guests began to say among themselves, “Who is this who even forgives
sins?”
50Jesus
said to the woman, “Your faith has saved you; go in peace.”
Mat24:12“Because of the increase of wickedness, the love of most will grow cold, 13but he who stands firm to the end will be saved. 14And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.” - words of Jesus
Luk16:13“No
servant can serve two masters. Either he will hate the one and love the other,
or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both
God and Money.” 14The
Pharisees, who loved money, heard all this and were sneering at Jesus. 15He
said to them, “You are the ones who justify yourselves in the eyes of men,
but God knows your hearts. What is highly valued among men is detestable in
God's sight. - words of Jesus
Joh13:34“A new
command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you,
so you must love one another. 35By
this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” - words of Jesus
Joh16:27 ..... “the
Father himself loves you because you have loved me and have believed that I came
from God. 28I
came from the Father and entered the world; now I am leaving the world and going
back to the Father.” - words of Jesus
Joh21:15When they had finished eating, Jesus said to Simon Peter, “Simon son of John, do you truly love me more than these?”
16Again
Jesus said, “Simon son of John, do you truly love me?”
He answered, “Yes, Lord, you know that
I love you.”
Jesus said, “Take
care of my sheep.”
17The
third time he said to him, “Simon son of John, do you love me?”
Peter was hurt because Jesus asked him the
third time, “Do you love me?” He said, “Lord, you know all
things; you know that I love you.”
18Jesus
said, “Feed my sheep.”
Jam2:1My brothers, as believers in our glorious Lord Jesus Christ, don't show favoritism. 2Suppose a man comes into your meeting wearing a gold ring and fine clothes, and a poor man in shabby clothes also comes in. 3If you show special attention to the man wearing fine clothes and say, “Here's a good seat for you,” but say to the poor man, “You stand there” or “Sit on the floor by my feet,” 4have you not discriminated among yourselves and become judges with evil thoughts? 5Listen, my dear brothers: Has not God chosen those who are poor in the eyes of the world to be rich in faith and to inherit the kingdom he promised those who love him?
Jam2:8If you really
keep the royal law found in Scripture, “Love your
neighbor as yourself,” (Lev19:18) you are
doing right. 9But
if you show favoritism, you sin and are convicted by the law as lawbreakers. 10For
whoever keeps the whole law and yet stumbles at just one point is guilty of
breaking all of it. 11For
he who said, “Do not commit adultery,” (Exo20:14;
Deu5:18) also said, “Do not murder.” (Exo20:13;
Deu5:17) If you do not commit adultery but do commit murder, you have
become a lawbreaker. 12Speak
and act as those who are going to be judged by the law that gives freedom, 13because
judgment without mercy will be shown to anyone who has not
been merciful. Mercy triumphs over judgment!
Mat5:7“Blessed are the merciful,
for they will be shown mercy.” - words of Jesus
Mat9:12 ..... Jesus said, “It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. 13But go and learn what this means: 'I desire mercy, not sacrifice.' (Hos6:6) For I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners.” - words of Jesus
Jam3:13Who is wise and understanding among you? Let him show it by his good life, by deeds done in the humility that comes from wisdom. 14But if you harbor bitter envy and selfish ambition in your hearts, do not boast about it or deny the truth. 15Such “wisdom” does not come down from heaven but is earthly, unspiritual, of the devil. 16For where you have envy and selfish ambition, there you find disorder and every evil practice. 17But the wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure; then peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere. 18Peacemakers who sow in peace raise a harvest of righteousness.
1Pet1:3Praise be to the
God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new
birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,
4and
into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade—kept in heaven for
you, 5who
through faith are shielded by God's power until the coming of the salvation that
is ready to be revealed in the last time. 6In
this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while you may have had to
suffer grief in all kinds of trials. 7These
have come so that your faith—of greater worth than gold, which perishes even
though refined by fire—may be proved genuine and may result in praise, glory
and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed. 8Though
you have not seen him, you love him; and
even though you do not see him now, you believe in him and are filled with an
inexpressible and glorious joy, 9for
you are receiving the goal of your faith, the salvation of your souls.
1Pet1:22Now
that you have purified yourselves by obeying the truth so that you have sincere
love for your brothers, love one another deeply, from the heart. 23For
you have been born again, not of perishable seed, but of imperishable, through
the living and enduring word of God.
1Pet2:15For it is God's
will that by doing good you should silence the ignorant talk of foolish men. 16Live
as free men, but do not use your freedom as a cover-up for evil; live as
servants of God. 17Show
proper respect to everyone: Love the brotherhood of
believers, fear God, honor the king.
1Pet3:1Wives, in the
same way be submissive to your husbands so that, if any of them do not believe
the word, they may be won over without words by the behavior of their wives, 2when
they see the purity and reverence of your lives. 3Your
beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as braided hair and the
wearing of gold jewelry and fine clothes. 4Instead,
it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty
of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great
worth in God's sight. 5For
this is the way the holy women of the past who put their hope in God used to
make themselves beautiful. They were submissive to their own husbands, 6like
Sarah, who obeyed Abraham and called him her master. You are her daughters if
you do what is right and do not give way to fear.
1Pet3:7Husbands, in the
same way be considerate as you live with your wives,
and treat them with respect as the weaker partner and as heirs with you of the
gracious gift of life, so that nothing will hinder your prayers. 8Finally,
all of you, live in harmony with one another; be sympathetic, love as brothers,
be compassionate and humble. 9Do
not repay evil with evil or insult with insult, but with blessing, because to
this you were called so that you may inherit a blessing. 10For,
“Whoever would love life
and see good days
must keep his tongue from evil
and his lips from deceitful speech.
11He
must turn from evil and do good;
he must seek peace and pursue it.
12For
the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous
and his ears are attentive to their prayer,
but the face of the Lord is against those who do evil.”
(Psa34:12-16)
1Pet13:3Who is going to
harm you if you are eager to do good? 14But
even if you should suffer for what is right, you are blessed. "Do not fear
what they fear; do not be frightened." (Isa8:12)
15But in your hearts set apart Christ as Lord. Always
be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for
the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and
respect, 16keeping
a clear conscience, so that those who speak maliciously against your good
behavior in Christ may be ashamed of their slander.
1Pet4:7The end of all
things is near. Therefore be clear minded and self-controlled so that you can
pray. 8Above
all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins.
9Offer
hospitality to one another without grumbling. 10Each
one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully
administering God's grace in its various forms. 11If
anyone speaks, he should do it as one speaking the very words of God. If anyone
serves, he should do it with the strength God provides, so that in all things
God may be praised through Jesus Christ. To him be the glory and the power for
ever and ever. Amen.
1Joh2:3We know that we
have come to know him if we obey his commands. 4The
man who says, “I know him,” but does not do what he commands is a
liar, and the truth is not in him. 5But
if anyone obeys his word, God's love is truly made complete in him. This
is how we know we are in him: 6Whoever
claims to live in him must walk as Jesus did. ..... 9Anyone
who claims to be in the light but hates his brother is still in the darkness. 10Whoever
loves his brother lives in the light, and there is nothing in him to make him
stumble. 11But
whoever hates his brother is in the darkness and walks around in the darkness;
he does not know where he is going, because the darkness has blinded him.
1Joh2:15Do not love the
world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, the
love of the Father is not in him. 16For
everything in the world—the cravings of sinful man, the lust of his eyes and
the boasting of what he has and does—comes not from the Father but from the
world. 17The
world and its desires pass away, but the man who does the will of God lives
forever.
1Joh3:10This
is how we know who the children of God are and who the children of the devil
are: Anyone who does not do what is right is not a child
of God; nor is anyone who does not love his brother. 11This
is the message you heard from the beginning: We should
love one another. 12Do
not be like Cain, who belonged to the evil one and murdered his brother. And why
did he murder him? Because his own actions were evil and his brother's were
righteous. 13Do
not be surprised, my brothers, if the world hates you. 14We
know that we have passed from death to life, because we love our brothers.
Anyone who does not love remains in death. 15Anyone
who hates his brother is a murderer, and you know that no murderer has eternal
life in him.
2Joh1:6And this is
love: that we walk in obedience to his commands. As you have heard from the
beginning, his command is that you walk in love.
3Joh1:5Dear friend, you are
faithful in what you are doing for the brothers, even though they are strangers
to you. 6They
have told the church about your love. You will do well to send them on
their way in a manner worthy of God. 7It
was for the sake of the Name that they went out, receiving no help from the
pagans. 8We
ought therefore to show hospitality to such men so that we may work together for
the truth.
Jud1:20But you, dear
friends, build yourselves up in your most holy faith and pray in the Holy
Spirit. 21Keep
yourselves in God's love as you wait for the mercy of our Lord Jesus
Christ to bring you to eternal life. 22Be
merciful to those who doubt; 23snatch
others from the fire and save them; to others show mercy, mixed with
fear—hating even the clothing stained by corrupted flesh. 24To
him who is able to keep you from falling and to present you before his glorious
presence without fault and with great joy— 25to
the only God our Savior be glory, majesty, power and authority, through Jesus
Christ our Lord, before all ages, now and forevermore! Amen.
Rom1:8First, I thank my
God through Jesus Christ for all of you, because your faith is being reported
all over the world. 9God, whom I serve with my
whole heart in preaching the gospel of his Son, is my witness how constantly
I remember you 10in
my prayers at all times; and I pray that now at last by God's will the
way may be opened for me to come to you. 11I
long to see you so that I may impart to you some spiritual gift to make you
strong— 12that
is, that you and I may be mutually encouraged by each other's faith.
Rom12:9Love
must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good. 10Be
devoted to one another in brotherly love. Honor one another above
yourselves. 11Never
be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord. 12Be
joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer. 13Share
with God's people who are in need. Practice hospitality. 14Bless
those who persecute you; bless and do not curse. 15Rejoice
with those who rejoice; mourn with those who mourn. 16Live
in harmony with one another. Do not be proud, but be willing to associate with
people of low position. Do not be conceited. 17Do
not repay anyone evil for evil. Be careful to do what is right in the eyes of
everybody. 18If
it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone. 19Do
not take revenge, my friends, but leave room for God's wrath, for it is written:
“It is mine to avenge; I will repay,” says the Lord. 20On
the contrary:
“If your enemy is hungry, feed him;
if he is thirsty, give him something to
drink.
In doing this, you will heap burning coals on his head.”
(Pro25:21-22)
21Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.
Rom14:13Therefore let
us stop passing judgment on one another. Instead, make up your mind not to put
any stumbling block or obstacle in your brother's way. 14As
one who is in the Lord Jesus, I am fully convinced that no food is unclean in
itself. But if anyone regards something as unclean, then for him it is unclean. 15If
your brother is distressed because of what you eat, you are no longer acting in
love. Do not by your eating destroy your brother for whom Christ died. 16Do
not allow what you consider good to be spoken of as evil. 17For
the kingdom of God is not a matter of eating and drinking, but of righteousness,
peace and joy in the Holy Spirit, 18because
anyone who serves Christ in this way is pleasing to God and approved by men. 19Let
us therefore make every effort to do what leads to peace and to mutual
edification. 20Do
not destroy the work of God for the sake of food. All food is clean, but it is
wrong for a man to eat anything that causes someone else to stumble. 21It
is better not to eat meat or drink wine or to do anything else that will cause
your brother to fall.
Rom15:1We who are
strong ought to bear with the failings of the weak and not to please ourselves. 2Each
of us should please his neighbor for his good, to build him up. 3For
even Christ did not please himself but, as it is written: “The insults of
those who insult you have fallen on me.” (Psa69:9)
Rom15:5May
the God who gives endurance and encouragement give you a spirit of unity among
yourselves as you follow Christ Jesus, 6so
that with one heart and mouth you may glorify the God and Father of our Lord
Jesus Christ. 7Accept
one another, then, just as Christ accepted you, in order to bring praise
to God.
1Cor8:1 ..... We know that we all possess knowledge. Knowledge
puffs up, but love builds up. 2The
man who thinks he knows something does not yet know as he ought to know. 3But
the man who loves God is known by God.
1Cor16:13Be on your
guard; stand firm in the faith; be men of courage; be strong. 14Do
everything in love.
1Cor16:22If anyone does
not love the Lord—a curse be on him. Come, O Lord!
2Cor2:4For I wrote you
out of great distress and anguish of heart and with many tears, not to grieve
you but to let you know the depth of my love for you.
2Cor6:3We put no
stumbling block in anyone's path, so that our ministry will not be discredited. 4Rather,
as servants of God we commend ourselves in every way: in great endurance; in
troubles, hardships and distresses; 5in
beatings, imprisonments and riots; in hard work, sleepless nights and hunger; 6in
purity, understanding, patience and kindness; in the Holy
Spirit and in sincere love; 7in
truthful speech and in the power of God; with weapons of righteousness in the
right hand and in the left; 8through
glory and dishonor, bad report and good report; genuine, yet regarded as
impostors; 9known,
yet regarded as unknown; dying, and yet we live on; beaten, and yet not killed; 10sorrowful,
yet always rejoicing; poor, yet making many rich; having nothing, and yet
possessing everything.
2Cor12:14Now I am ready
to visit you for the third time, and I will not be a
burden to you, because what I want is not your possessions but you. After
all, children should not have to save up for their parents, but parents for
their children. 15So
I will very gladly spend for you everything I have and expend myself as well.
If I love you more, will you love me less? 16Be
that as it may, I have not been a burden to you.
Gal5:5But by faith we
eagerly await through the Spirit the righteousness for which we hope. 6For
in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision has any value. The
only thing that counts is faith expressing itself through love.
Gal5:13You, my
brothers, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the
sinful nature; rather, serve one another in love. 14The
entire law is summed up in a single command: “Love
your neighbor as yourself.” (Lev19:18)
15If you keep on biting and devouring
each other, watch out or you will be destroyed by each other.
Gal5:22But
the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness,
goodness, faithfulness, 23gentleness
and self-control. Against such things there is no law. 24Those
who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the sinful nature with its passions
and desires. 25Since
we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit.
Gal6:1Brothers, if
someone is caught in a sin, you who are spiritual should restore him gently. But
watch yourself, or you also may be tempted. 2Carry
each other's burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.
Eph1:15For this reason,
ever since I heard about your faith in the Lord Jesus and
your love for all the saints, 16I
have not stopped giving thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers.
Eph4:1As a prisoner for
the Lord, then, I urge you to live a life worthy of the calling you have
received. 2Be
completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love.
3Make
every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace. 4There
is one body and one Spirit—just as you were called to one hope when you were
called— 5one
Lord, one faith, one baptism; 6one
God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all.
Eph4:7But to each one
of us grace has been given as Christ apportioned it. 8This
is why it says:
“When he ascended on high,
he led captives in his train
and gave gifts to men.”
(Psa68:18)
9(What does “he ascended” mean except that he also
descended to the lower, earthly regions? 10He
who descended is the very one who ascended higher than all the heavens, in order
to fill the whole universe.) 11It
was he who gave some to be apostles, some to be prophets, some to be
evangelists, and some to be pastors and teachers, 12to
prepare God's people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be
built up 13until
we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and
become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ. 15Instead,
speaking the truth in love, we
will in all things grow up into him who is the Head, that
is, Christ. 16From
him the whole body, joined and held together by
every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in
love, as each part does its work.
Eph4:29Do not let any
unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is
helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may
benefit those who listen. 30And
do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, with whom you were sealed for the day of
redemption. 31Get
rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every
form of malice. 32Be
kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving
each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.
Phil:9And this is my
prayer: that your love may abound more and more in
knowledge and depth of insight, 10so
that you may be able to discern what is best and may be pure and blameless until
the day of Christ, 11filled
with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ—to the glory
and praise of God.
Phil4:4Rejoice in the Lord always. I
will say it again: Rejoice! 5Let
your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. 6Do
not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with
thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7And
the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and
your minds in Christ Jesus.
Col1:3We always thank
God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, when we pray for you, 4because
we have heard of your faith in Christ Jesus and of the
love you have for all the saints— 5the
faith and love that spring from the hope that is stored up for you in heaven
and that you have already heard about in the word of truth, the gospel 6that
has come to you. All over the world this gospel is bearing fruit and growing,
just as it has been doing among you since the day you heard it and understood
God's grace in all its truth. 7You
learned it from Epaphras, our dear fellow servant, who is a faithful minister of
Christ on our behalf, 8and
who also told us of your love in the Spirit.
Col2:1I want you to
know how much I am struggling for you and for those at Laodicea, and for all who
have not met me personally. 2My
purpose is that they may be encouraged in heart and united
in love, so that they may have the full riches of complete understanding,
in order that they may know the mystery of God, namely, Christ, 3in
whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.
Col3:19Husbands, love
your wives and do not be harsh with them.
Col4:2Devote yourselves
to prayer, being watchful and thankful. 3And
pray for us, too, that God may open a door for our message, so that we may proclaim
the mystery of Christ, for which I am in chains. 4Pray
that I may proclaim it clearly, as I should. 5Be
wise in the way you act toward outsiders; make the most of every opportunity. 6Let
your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that
you may know how to answer everyone.
1The2:6 .....As apostles of Christ we could have been a burden to
you, 7but
we were gentle among you, like a mother caring for
her little children. 8We
loved you so much that we were delighted to share with you not only the gospel
of God but our lives as well, because you had become so dear to us. 9Surely
you remember, brothers, our toil and hardship; we
worked night and day in order not to be a burden to anyone while we
preached the gospel of God to you. 10You
are witnesses, and so is God, of how holy, righteous and blameless we were among
you who believed. 11For
you know that we dealt with each of you as a father deals with his own children,
12encouraging,
comforting and urging you to live lives worthy of God,
who calls you into his kingdom and glory.
1The3:6But Timothy has
just now come to us from you and has brought good news
about your faith and love. He has told us that you always have pleasant
memories of us and that you long to see us, just as we also long to see you.
..... 12May
the Lord make your love increase and overflow for each other and for everyone
else, just as ours does for you. 13May
he strengthen your hearts so that you will be blameless and holy in the presence
of our God and Father when our Lord Jesus comes with all his holy ones.
1The4:9Now about
brotherly love we do not need to write to you, for you
yourselves have been taught by God to love each other. 10And
in fact, you do love all the brothers throughout Macedonia. Yet
we urge you, brothers, to do so more and more. 11Make
it your ambition to lead a quiet life, to mind your own business and to work
with your hands, just as we told you, 12so
that your daily life may win the respect of outsiders and so that you will not
be dependent on anybody.
1The5:5You are all sons
of the light and sons of the day. We do not belong to the night or to the
darkness. 6So
then, let us not be like others, who are asleep, but let us be alert and
self-controlled. 7For
those who sleep, sleep at night, and those who get drunk, get drunk at night. 8But
since we belong to the day, let us be self-controlled, putting
on faith and love as a breastplate, and the hope of salvation as a
helmet. 9For
God did not appoint us to suffer wrath but to receive salvation through our Lord
Jesus Christ. 10He
died for us so that, whether we are awake or asleep, we may live together with
him. 11Therefore
encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.
1The5:12Now we ask you,
brothers, to respect those who work hard among you, who are over you in the Lord
and who admonish you. 13Hold
them in the highest regard in love because of their work. Live in peace
with each other. 14And
we urge you, brothers, warn those who are idle, encourage
the timid, help the weak, be
patient with everyone. 15Make
sure that nobody pays back wrong for wrong, but always try
to be kind to each other and to everyone else. 16Be
joyful always; 17pray
continually; 18give
thanks in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus. 19Do
not put out the Spirit's fire; 20do
not treat prophecies with contempt. 21Test
everything. Hold on to the good. 22Avoid
every kind of evil. 23May
God himself, the God of peace, sanctify1a you through and through. May your whole
spirit, soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. 24The
one who calls you is faithful and he will do it.
2The1:3We ought always
to thank God for you, brothers, and rightly so, because your faith is growing
more and more, and the love every one of you has for each
other is increasing. 4Therefore,
among God's churches we boast about your perseverance and faith in all the
persecutions and trials you are enduring. 5All
this is evidence that God's judgment is right, and as a result you will be
counted worthy of the kingdom of God, for which you are suffering. 6God
is just: He will pay back trouble to those who trouble you 7and
give relief to you who are troubled, and to us as well. This will happen when
the Lord Jesus is revealed from heaven in blazing fire with his powerful angels.
8He
will punish those who do not know God and do not obey the gospel of our Lord
Jesus. 9They
will be punished with everlasting destruction and shut out from the presence of
the Lord and from the majesty of his power 10on
the day he comes to be glorified in his holy people and to be marveled at among
all those who have believed. This includes you, because you believed our
testimony to you.
2The3:1Finally,
brothers, pray for us that the message of the Lord may spread rapidly and be
honored, just as it was with you. 2And
pray that we may be delivered from wicked and evil men, for not everyone has
faith. 3But
the Lord is faithful, and he will strengthen and protect you from the evil one. 4We
have confidence in the Lord that you are doing and will continue to do the
things we command. 5May
the Lord direct your hearts into God's love and Christ's perseverance.
Heb5:1Every high priest
is selected from among men and is appointed to represent them in matters related
to God, to offer gifts and sacrifices for sins. 2He
is able to deal gently with those who are ignorant and are going astray, since
he himself is subject to weakness. 3This
is why he has to offer sacrifices for his own sins, as well as for the sins of
the people.
Heb6:10God
is not unjust; he will not forget your work and the love you have shown him as
you have helped his people and continue to help them. 11We
want each of you to show this same diligence to the very end, in order to make
your hope sure. 12We
do not want you to become lazy, but to imitate those who through faith and
patience inherit what has been promised.
Heb10:19Therefore,
brothers, since we have confidence to enter the Most Holy Place by the blood of
Jesus, 20by
a new and living way opened for us through the curtain, that is, his body, 21and
since we have a great priest over the house of God, 22let
us draw near to God with a sincere heart in full assurance of faith, having our
hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience and having our bodies
washed with pure water. 23Let
us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful. 24And
let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good
deeds. 25Let
us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us
encourage one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.
Heb13:1Keep
on loving each other as brothers. 2Do
not forget to entertain strangers, for by so doing some people have entertained
angels without knowing it. 3Remember
those in prison as if you were their fellow prisoners, and those who are
mistreated as if you yourselves were suffering. ..... 15Through
Jesus, therefore, let us continually offer to God a sacrifice of praise—the
fruit of lips that confess his name. 16And
do not forget to do good and to share with others, for with such
sacrifices God is pleased.
1Tim1:3As I urged you
when I went into Macedonia, stay there in Ephesus so that you may command
certain men not to teach false doctrines any longer 4nor
to devote themselves to myths and endless genealogies. These promote
controversies rather than God's work—which is by faith. 5The
goal of this command is love, which
comes from a pure heart and a good conscience and a sincere faith.
1Tim1:14The
grace of our Lord was poured out on me abundantly, along with the faith and love
that are in Christ Jesus.
1Tim4:12Don't let
anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an
example for the believers in speech, in life,
in love, in faith and in
purity.
1Tim6:6But godliness with contentment is great gain. 7For we brought nothing into the world, and we can take nothing out of it. 8But if we have food and clothing, we will be content with that. 9People who want to get rich fall into temptation and a trap and into many foolish and harmful desires that plunge men into ruin and destruction. 10For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs. 11But you, man of God, flee from all this, and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, endurance and gentleness. 12Fight the good fight of the faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called when you made your good confession in the presence of many witnesses. 13In the sight of God, who gives life to everything, and of Christ Jesus, who while testifying before Pontius Pilate made the good confession, I charge you 14to keep this command without spot or blame until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ, 15which God will bring about in his own time—God, the blessed and only Ruler, the King of kings and Lord of lords, 16who alone is immortal and who lives in unapproachable light, whom no one has seen or can see. To him be honor and might forever. Amen.
17Command
those who are rich in this present world not to be arrogant nor to put their
hope in wealth, which is so uncertain, but to put their hope in God, who richly
provides us with everything for our enjoyment. 18Command
them to do good, to be rich in good deeds, and
to be generous and willing to share. 19In
this way they will lay up treasure for themselves as a firm foundation for the
coming age, so that they may take hold of the life that is truly life.
2Tim1:7For God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but a spirit of power, of love and of self-discipline.
2Tim1:13What you heard
from me, keep as the pattern of sound teaching, with faith and love
in Christ Jesus. 14Guard
the good deposit that was entrusted to you—guard it with the help of the Holy
Spirit who lives in us.
2Tim2:20In a large
house there are articles not only of gold and silver, but also of wood and clay;
some are for noble purposes and some for ignoble. 21If
a man cleanses himself from the latter, he will be an instrument for noble
purposes, made holy, useful to the Master and prepared to do any good work. 22Flee
the evil desires of youth, and pursue righteousness, faith, love and peace,
along with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart. 23Don't
have anything to do with foolish and stupid arguments, because you know they
produce quarrels. 24And
the Lord's servant must not quarrel; instead, he must be kind to
everyone, able
to teach, not resentful. 25Those
who oppose him he must gently instruct, in the hope that God will grant
them repentance4a leading them to a knowledge of the truth, 26and
that they will come to their senses and escape from the trap of the devil, who
has taken them captive to do his will.
2Tim3:10You,
however, know all about my teaching, my way
of life, my purpose, faith, patience, love,
endurance, 11persecutions,
sufferings—what kinds of things happened to me in Antioch, Iconium and Lystra,
the persecutions I endured. Yet the Lord rescued me from all of them. 12In
fact, everyone who wants to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be
persecuted, 13while
evil men and impostors will go from bad to worse, deceiving and being deceived.
Tit3:15Everyone with me
sends you greetings. Greet those who love us in the faith.
Grace be with you all.
Phm1:4I always thank my
God as I remember you in my prayers, 5because
I hear about your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love
for all the saints. 6I
pray that you may be active in sharing your faith, so that you will have a full
understanding of every good thing we have in Christ. 7Your
love has given me great joy and encouragement, because you, brother, have
refreshed the hearts of the saints. 8Therefore,
although in Christ I could be bold and order you to do what you ought to do, 9yet
I appeal to you on the basis of love.
